Describes the journey through the Amazon Basin made by Orellana and Pizarro in the early sixteenth century. Also discusses the Inca and the conquest of South America by the Spanish. Book is about the journey Pizarro and Orellana made through the Amazon Basin and the conquest of the Inca empire. A picture essay in the middle contains beautiful color photographs of the region and its wildlife. This is a fascinating account of how a small band of Spaniards could overthrow an entire empire.
